World Studies, Honors

Grade 11

2016-2017 School Year


Instructor: Mr. Pum

Course Description:  World Studies Honors is a course that evaluates the history of Western Civilization from roughly 1350-present.  The course emphasizes content relating to social, economic, and political development of nations both past and present.  Current events will also be involved in class so that students can make connections between the past and present.  At the end of the course students should not only have a greater knowledge of world History; but also an improvement in their verbal, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Textbook:  World History: Connections to Today, (Peasron Prentice Hall. 2005).

Guidelines & Procedures: See East Penn School District’s Code of Conduct and Mr. Pum’s Classroom         Management Plan.

Grading:  (Includes the following) Class-work/Homework assignments, Notebook, Quizzes, Tests, Papers, Presentations, Midterm/Final Exam.  Grading is calculated by using total points in a quarter.
