  • a binder for the homework, math, science, social studies and language arts folders (great for organization)

All other supplies will be provided by the district, including homework folders, homework planners, glue, crayons and various supplies.

In preparation for middle school, we have been having students update their assignment books as usual. Students should have 5th Grade Tips for Parents

Topic: Homework

What should my son or daughter bring home each night?

Students should bring home the following items every night:

-their assignment book (please read and initial this each night)

-a chapter book to read every night, including weekends

-their folder binder with all 5 five folders inside

If they do not, they will most likely be handing-in an assignment late.

Will my son or daughter have homework every day? How much?

Yes. Every student will have homework every day. At the very least, a 5th grader should read their Reading Challenge chapter book for 50 minutes, five days a week. This will allow them to meet their weekly reading goals. 5th graders receive 10 minutes of homework, per day multiplied by their grade level. So that is 5 x 10 minutes for a total of 50 minutes every day.
