Writing every day not only helps to foster a love of writing, but also supports reading development. Work on Writing provides daily guided instruction and practice; the children are given a choice about what to write about. Research states that "kids who have a purpose care about their writing and the people who will read it." Therefore, it is very important to guide the children to write about something they are interested in. We talk about this daily in whole group settings, small group settings, and during one on one conference time.
