Classroom Behavior Plan
Students are encouraged to “Go for Green!”
In the beginning of the year, together we will create classroom rules and then use a stoplight classroom management plan. The colors are identical to a street stoplight-- green, yellow and red. Every child will begin their day on green.
If a student does not follow the classroom rules, a warning will be given. If the behavior does not improve or another violation occurs, the student's card will be changed from green to yellow - “cautioning” the student to reflect on his/her behavior.
If another violation occurs, the student will be asked to change their yellow card to red. Any student who receives a red card will be required to "stop" and fill out a Think Sheet reflecting on his or her behavior during the day. Think Sheets need to be signed by parents and returned to school the following day. Any student receiving more than one red card in a week may lose recess or the right to participate in a fun activity and parents may receive a call from me!
At the end of each day, students will color their assignment book to indicate the color of their card. Check your child’s assignment book to see what “color” day they had each day. For any student not on green, I will meet with them and review what behavior is expected of them. If your child has a yellow or red day, please review with him/her what happened during the day and what action or actions would be better. Discuss what it takes to “stay green” and encourage /reinforce positive behavior. All cards will be switched back to greenso each student will have a fresh start the next day.
Thank you for helping your child learn that good behavior is important in school!
